Sami Dan – consummate professional of Ethiopian reggae.  The musicianship of his productions definitely captures the authentic feel of today’s modern reggae which makes his contribution to the genre outstanding.  The Ethiopian flavour of his brass section also compliments his music well which also gives it that signature Ethiopian quality.

His latest album, Sibet, has something for everybody.  I had the pleasure of meeting Sami before his meteoric rise to local stardom. Sami is a very cool and humble artist: a quality that comes through in his work. Sami’s love music started at a young age. He says he loves reggae music because it encourage peace, love and consciousness. He says the genre resonates with him because of the profound influence that Ethiopia has had on the music.

Will Sami maintain his current orbit? If he continues to produce music of the quality that he has been, then it’s only upward and onward for this talented Ethiopian artist.
